Helping Haiti

I can’t believe that it has been almost two weeks since the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Given that 45% of Haitians are younger than 15, this catastrophe is an enormous children’s crisis. That’s why we’re hoping that you will join us in donating money to the United Nations Children’s Fund, better known as UNICEF. They are on the ground in Haiti struggling to help children stay safe and to have access to food, water, and shelter.

In addition to supporting UNICEF, Papo d’Anjo is also sending clothing to The Haitian Congress to Fortify Haiti in Illinois. If there are organizations in your town that are asking for supplies–anything from flip flops to aspirin to hand sanitzer–I’ve found that involving my children in getting and donating these items helps makes the needs of others more tangible for them.

The heart of every Papo d’Anjo employee goes out to the people of Haiti. Please post any suggestions you have for charitable organizations that are doing good work during this tragedy.

Thank you for this and for reminding me of one of the more reputable organizations which I can trust to act with effectiveness and sensitivity and which will spend my donation wisely.
